Eli Gershkovitchthe CEO Steamworks Brew Pub

Eli Gershkovitch has built a successful empire in the craft beer business over the years as he is a very skilled entrepreneur and has a passion for brewing. He is the founder and CEO of Steamworks Brewing company, one of the companies that have put Canada on the map of Craft beers.

Steamworks Brewing Company participated in the US Open Beer Championship that ended in 2017 July. The judges were from Britain, Canada and US and craft beers from all over the world were submitted. American breweries went home with most awards, but countries such as Italy, Vietnam, and Belize surprised the world by winning different medals. Canadian Breweries took home 24 honors including ten gold medals. Different breweries from Canada took up the top spots for categories such as the Berliner-Style Weisse, Vegetable Beer, and the American-Style Fruit Beer (ReleaseFact). One brewery from Ontario surprised people, even more, when it made top 10 breweries of 2017.

In the 1990’s craft beer was taking root all over the world and Canada was no exception. Eli Gershkovitch started his steam-powered brewery in the form of a small pub in Gastown, Vancouver. He called the establishment Steamworks Brew Pub which gradually expanded as it became a local spot for both locals and international visitors to enjoy a large number of concoctions. These mixtures include Steamworks Pale Ale, Pumpkin Ale, Pilsner, Lion’s Gate Lager and the most recent one Flagship IPA. The Flagship IPA is a blend of three Southern-Hemisphere hops namely; Galaxy, Citra, and Mosaic. It has a sweet taste at the beginning and finally gives way to just the right amount of bitterness.

In the beginning, Steamworks Brew Pub was only brewing six craft beers on the first year, as it grew the company now produces over 15 craft beers annually with Pilsner and Pale Ale being sold in over 85 government liquor stores as well as many private retailers all over Canada. In 2013, he opened a full-scale brewery. This has expanded his production capacity 20 times, and sales have also increased dramatically with customers all over the world including 14 US states, Germany, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Australia, and Italy.
