Coriant’s New Boss

Not so long ago, Coriant unveiled Shaygan Kheradpir as its new Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board. Coriant is a widely known global telecommunications company. According to an article posted by Light Reading on their website http://www.lightreading.com/optical/packet-optical/kheradpirs-coriant-comeback/a/d-id/718548, Mr. Shaygan will be taking over from Pat DiPietro, who will now be taking over the Vice Chairman position. It is speculated that the transition is going to be quite easy for Mr. Shaygan since he had a close working relationship with the company administrators while he was still an operating partner at Marlin Equity Partners. It is for this reason that the company views him as an asset, and not just as a renowned technology executive. Shaygan Kheradpir was involved in the formulation and designing of Coriant’s strategic and operations plan before being brought on board.

Coriant specializes in the supply of numerous telecommunications solutions to a variety of network operators in over 100 countries. Coriant hopes that Shaygan’s three-decade experience in the telecom, technology and financial service industry will help drive them to success. Considering Shaygan’s track record, it is expected that the company will begin developing technological solutions that will propel them to the top of their marketing niche.

During the unveiling of Shaygan Kheradpir as Coriant’s new Chief Executive Officer, Pat DiPietro said that they are honored to have him lead the company. He also added that his strategic insight and guidance on focused operational execution have been invaluable since they began working together at the beginning of the year and that they are confident in his ability to drive the company to the next level.

Shaygan Kheradpir was born in London in 1964. While he was still a lad, his family moved to Iran where his father had gotten a job as an otorhinolaryngologist. He was later on sent to Switzerland where he attended high school and college. He then moved to the United States after being accepted to Cornell University for a bachelor’s degree program in electrical engineering. He specialized in control systems. After finishing school, he was employed by GTE Laboratories where he worked as a network controller. He was later promoted to Chief Information Officer.

In the year 2000, after GTE Corporation had merged with Bell Atlantic to form Verizon Communications, Shaygan was appointed president of the e-business division. He was later promoted to Chief Technology/Information Officer. After more than a decade, he joined Barclays. However, four years into the job, he moved to Juniper Network where he served as the Chief Executive Officer.
